Product description

Little suns full of detail for your pot

If you love daffodils but want a charming variety for small pots and bed edges, Sun Disc offers something different from large-trumpet daffodils. Its small, rounded flowers open pale yellow, then the petals gradually turn creamy while the flat central disc remains a clearer yellow. The flowers appear above slender green leaves, creating a delicate spring group to enjoy close up.

English name: Sun Disc Daffodil. Botanical name: Narcissus 'Sun Disc'. This is a short daffodil from the Jonquilla group, reaching around 15–18 cm. Each stem usually carries one to three fragrant flowers in suitable conditions. The pack contains 7 bulbs for planting. Group them in a relatively wide pot or spread them along the front of a flower bed for a repeated, harmonious display.

Where it grows well in Jordan

Plant in autumn after soil temperatures fall, in a position receiving sun for most of the day or light shade. This variety suits balcony and patio pots and garden edges, provided the soil is reasonably fertile and well drained. Maintain moderate moisture during growth without flooding, as standing water harms bulbs. Flowering time depends on local weather and seasonal cold, so there is no fixed flowering date for every part of Jordan.

Planting and care

  1. Choose a pot with drainage holes or a garden position where water does not collect, and prepare loose growing soil.
  2. Plant each bulb pointed end upwards. Use a depth of around 10 cm for typical bulbs, or about one and a half to twice the bulb's height if their size varies. Leave around 10 cm between bulbs in the ground. In pots, they can be arranged a little closer without touching.
  3. Water after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs, then water again when the surface begins to dry during growth. Do not leave standing water in the saucer.
  4. After flowering, remove faded flower heads and leave the foliage to yellow and dry naturally; it helps the bulb store food for the following season.

Safety: Narcissus bulbs are ornamental and must not be eaten. Wear gloves when handling them and keep out of reach of children and pets.

Frequently asked questions

How many bulbs are in the pack? 7 Sun Disc narcissus bulbs, priced at 3 JOD per pack.

What colour are Sun Disc flowers? The petals start pale yellow and turn creamy as they mature, surrounding a clearer yellow central disc. The planting guide image is general and may show daffodils in other colours.

Is this a small daffodil or a typical tall one? It is a short variety, around 15–18 cm tall, with smaller flowers and a flat central disc, making it suitable for pots and the front of beds.

Can a bulb produce more than one flower? A stem may usually carry one to three flowers. This is not a guaranteed number per bulb, as flowering depends on bulb size and growing conditions.

Are the flowers fragrant? Yes, this variety is described as fragrant. Its scent is easier to enjoy when the pot is placed near a seating area or walkway.

When should I plant narcissus in Jordan? In autumn as the weather becomes milder and soil temperatures fall. Flowering time varies with winter cold and the planting site, usually within the spring season.

Will it grow in a balcony pot? Yes. Choose a pot with drainage holes, soil that does not hold excess water, and a position in good sun or light shade. Water moderately.

What should I do after flowering? Remove faded flowers and leave the foliage to yellow on its own. Avoid cutting green leaves so the bulb can replenish its reserves.
