Product description

Pure white and a yellow cup in a striking small cluster

Canaliculatus narcissus produces white flowers surrounding a distinct yellow cup. The petals curve slightly backwards, highlighting the cup at the centre of each flower. A stem may carry more than one small flower in suitable conditions, making it attractive at the front of a bed or in a balcony pot.

The Hedera pack contains 7 bulbs of the same Canaliculatus variety, imported from the Netherlands, rather than a colour mix. Its botanical name is Narcissus 'Canaliculatus', from the Tazetta group. Its flowers are described as pleasantly scented, although intensity may vary with conditions. A stem may carry up to seven small flowers in the best conditions, but this is not a guaranteed number per stem or bulb. The guaranteed pack quantity is 7 bulbs. Its relatively short stature suits pots and the front of beds.

How to plant

  • Plant in autumn as the weather becomes milder and the soil cools, in a relatively warm, sunny position with light, well-drained soil.
  • Set the pointed end upwards and cover with soil to a depth of roughly one to two times the bulb's height, depending on its size. Leave suitable space between bulbs.
  • In a deep pot with drainage holes, bulbs can be placed close together for a seasonal display without touching. Water after planting, then as needed during growth, avoiding standing water.
  • After flowering, remove faded flowers and leave the foliage to yellow and dry naturally. The bulbs may return in later seasons, without a guaranteed flower count.

What you receive: A pack of 7 ornamental Canaliculatus narcissus bulbs. The bulbs are harmful if eaten and may irritate skin; keep away from children and pets and do not confuse with edible bulbs. Wear gloves if your skin is sensitive.

Frequently asked questions

Is it white or yellow? Its flowers are white with yellow cups; it is not a colour mix.

How many flowers will each bulb produce? There is no fixed number. Several flowers may appear on a stem depending on conditions.

Will it suit a balcony pot? Yes, with enough depth, drainage holes and a sunny position.

Can it grow in light shade? It prefers a sunny position; shade for most of the day may reduce flowering.

Is it scented? Its flowers are described as pleasantly scented, but intensity varies.

Will it return next season? It may return in a suitable position with good drainage and foliage left to dry naturally, without a guarantee of equally strong flowering.
