Welcome spring to a corner of your balcony with Pink Pearl Hyacinth. Green leaves surround an upright flower stem, which opens into a distinct cluster of small apricot flowers with a rich apricot tone and lighter edges. Its noticeable floral fragrance makes it suited to a spot near the entrance or on the balcony. Fragrance intensity varies with the weather, flowering stage and distance from the flowers.
Hedera's pack contains 3 bulbs of the apricot Pink Pearl variety, imported from the Netherlands, rather than plants already in flower. Plant them in one roomy pot with suitable spacing, or divide them between two pots. The variety usually reaches around 20–30 cm in suitable conditions. Flower cluster density and stem length depend on bulb size, light, temperature and care; the pack contains three bulbs, not a guaranteed number of flower clusters or individual flowers.
Its English name is Pink Pearl Hyacinth and its botanical name is Hyacinthus orientalis 'Pink Pearl'. The colour may differ slightly between the image and the actual flowers, or under different lighting. Bulbs planted in the usual way flower in spring after exposure to suitable winter conditions. Choose sun or light shade and well-drained soil.
Plant the bulbs in autumn when the weather becomes milder and the soil cools in your area. In the garden, choose loose, well-drained soil in sun or light shade. Position the pointed end upwards and plant about 10 cm deep, leaving at least around 7–8 cm between bulbs in the ground. Water after planting to settle the soil and avoid standing water.
For container growing, use a deep pot with drainage holes and suitable potting compost. Arrange the three bulbs in one pot if there is enough room for the required spacing, or divide them between two pots. Place the pot in a bright outdoor position and water moderately as needed during growth, without waterlogging. Do not assume the bulbs have been prepared for early flowering indoors. You can bring the pot indoors to enjoy the flowers as they approach opening, keeping it away from heat sources.
After the flowers fade, remove the flower stem and leave the green leaves to turn yellow naturally. Reduce watering as the bulb enters dormancy. The bulbs can be kept for the following season in a well-drained position, although future flower clusters may be less dense.
What you receive: A Hedera pack containing 3 Pink Pearl hyacinth bulbs for ornamental use. The bulbs are not edible and may cause skin irritation; keep them away from children and pets, and wear gloves if you have sensitive skin.
Is this an apricot-only pack or a colour mix? It contains 3 bulbs of the apricot Pink Pearl variety, rather than a colour mix.
Do the bulbs arrive in flower? No. You receive bulbs for seasonal planting; leaves and flowers develop later under suitable conditions.
Is the fragrance strong? The variety is known for fragrant flowers, but the perceived intensity varies with the flowering stage, ventilation and distance.
Is one pack enough for a pot? All three bulbs can be planted in one wide, deep pot with drainage holes and suitable spacing, or divided between two pots.
Can I grow them indoors for early flowers? Do not assume they are ready for this. Early flowering usually requires prepared bulbs and suitable treatment. Plant them in their natural season.
What should I do after flowering? Remove the faded stem, leave the leaves to turn yellow, then reduce watering. The bulbs may flower in a later season, although flower cluster density may vary.
