Kirkagac Melon Seeds – 30 Seeds

Offered through a special collaboration between Magic Seed and Hedera, these seeds produce Kirkagac melon, a variety known for its yellow rind mottled with green, distinctive oval shape, durability and good storage qualities. Suitable for home gardens, greenhouses and outdoor growing in Jordan, especially in warm, sunny areas, this vigorous variety produces medium to large fruit with firm flesh and a moderately sweet flavour. It is known for a longer storage life than many other melon varieties. Each pack contains 30 carefully selected seeds for high quality and excellent germination when growing recommendations are followed.

How to grow

Starting seedlings

Starting Kirkagac melon as seedlings is preferred to achieve uniform plants and a strong start to the season. Sow in seed trays filled with a light, well-drained growing medium, maintaining moderate moisture and a suitable germination temperature. Transplant to the final growing position at the 3–4 true-leaf stage, allowing suitable spacing.

Direct sowing

Direct sowing can be used in areas with warm, stable weather. Sow at a shallow depth in well-prepared soil rich in organic matter and water regularly until seedlings emerge.

When to plant

In Jordan, sow Kirkagac melon seeds in spring after the risk of frost has passed. Earlier planting is possible in greenhouses. Planting dates vary by region and elevation. Avoid planting in cold or unsettled conditions.

Plant care

The plants need full sun for healthy growth and high-quality fruit. Water regularly and evenly, gradually reducing watering before ripening to improve flavour and concentrate sugars. Use a balanced feeding programme, focusing on potassium during fruit growth. Good air circulation and reduced excess humidity help limit fungal infections.

Harvesting

Harvest Kirkagac melons when fully ripe, indicated by a change in rind colour and the development of their distinctive mild aroma. Under suitable storage conditions, this variety keeps longer than other melon varieties.
