Product description

Hedera NPK 20-20-20 + TE is a balanced, highly water-soluble fertilizer made in the Netherlands. It contains equal proportions of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, plus chelated trace elements. Its Dutch formulation provides balanced nutrition during active growth and can be applied through irrigation water or as a foliar spray.

At a glance

  • Formula: NPK 20-20-20 + trace elements (TE).
  • Water-soluble.
  • Application: fertigation or foliar spraying.
  • Suitable for fruit trees, vegetables, ornamentals and indoor plants.
  • Available sizes: 1 kg and 5 kg.
  • Origin: Netherlands.

What is NPK 20-20-20 fertilizer?

NPK 20-20-20 is a balanced fertilizer with equal proportions of the three major plant nutrients:

  • Nitrogen (N), 20%: supports chlorophyll formation, vegetative growth, and leaf and stem development.
  • Phosphorus (P2O5), 20%: supports root growth, energy transfer and flowering.
  • Potassium (K2O), 20%: helps regulate water within the plant and supports tissue strength and growth quality.
  • Trace elements (TE): complement plant nutrition and support biological processes.

Benefits of Hedera Dutch NPK 20-20-20

  • Provides balanced nutrition during active growth.
  • Supports leaf, stem and root development.
  • Suitable for vegetable, tree and ornamental feeding programs.
  • Its high-quality Dutch formulation dissolves quickly for easy distribution with irrigation water.
  • Suitable for soil feeding or foliar spraying.
  • Suitable for home gardens, fields and greenhouses at an appropriate rate.

When to use NPK 20-20-20

Use when plants need balanced nutrition, particularly during active growth, after newly planted or transplanted plants have established, to support overall growth, or as part of a regular feeding program for ornamentals, vegetables and trees.

Do not rely on it alone throughout the season. Plants may need a higher-nitrogen, higher-phosphorus or higher-potassium fertilizer depending on the crop and growth stage.

Directions and guideline rates for home gardens

With irrigation water:

  • Small or sensitive plants: start with 1 g per 1 L of water.
  • Established plants, vegetables and ornamentals: 1–2 g per 1 L of water.
  • Usually repeat every 14–21 days during active growth, depending on plant condition and soil fertility.

Foliar application:

  • Dissolve 1–2 g per 1 L of water.
  • Spray leaves in the early morning or before sunset.
  • Avoid spraying in extreme heat or when plants are suffering from water stress.

Professional irrigation-system rates vary with the crop, plant age, irrigation-water salinity and soil-test results. Commercial applications require a crop-specific fertilizer program.

Precautions

  • Do not apply to dry soil; water first if needed.
  • Do not exceed the recommended rate, to avoid increased salinity or leaf and root burn.
  • Do not mix in the same concentrated solution with calcium fertilizers, as phosphorus can cause precipitation.
  • Carry out a small compatibility test before mixing with iron or other nutrients.
  • Keep sealed in a dry place, away from moisture and children.

Frequently asked questions

Is NPK 20-20-20 suitable for lemon and citrus trees?

Yes. It provides balanced nutrition and supports overall citrus growth. Adjust the feeding program to the tree's age and its growth, flowering and fruiting stage.

Is it suitable for ornamental plants?

Yes, it suits many ornamental and indoor plants when used at a moderate rate without overfertilizing.

Is it the best fertilizer for increasing fruit size?

It provides balanced plant nutrition but is not the most specialized option for fruit sizing. A high-potassium formula such as NPK 12-12-36 is usually more appropriate at that stage.

Can it be mixed with iron fertilizer?

Both can be used in the same feeding program, but mixing compatibility depends on the form of iron, solution concentration and water quality. Carry out a small compatibility test or apply separately if unsure.

Can it be mixed with calcium fertilizer?

Mixing them in one concentrated solution or stock tank is not recommended, because phosphorus in NPK 20-20-20 may react with calcium and form precipitates.

How does it compare with other Hedera formulas?

  • 30-10-10: more specialized for vegetative growth and leaves.
  • 13-40-13: more specialized for roots and early flowering.
  • 12-12-36: more specialized for fruiting and higher potassium supply.
  • 20-20-20: suitable for balanced nutrition and overall growth.
