Product description

Offered through a special collaboration between Magic Seed and Hedera, these seeds produce long Armenian cucumber (faqous), known for its distinctive cylindrical shape, striped pale green colour, mild cucumber-like flavour and crisp texture. Suitable for home gardens, greenhouses and outdoor growing in Jordan, this variety tolerates warm temperatures and yields well with regular watering and balanced feeding. The vigorous plants produce long, high-quality, attractive fruit for fresh eating. Each pack contains 30 carefully selected seeds for high quality and excellent germination when growing recommendations are followed.

How to grow

Starting seedlings

Faqous can be started as seedlings, especially in areas with relatively cool weather early in the season. Sow in seed trays filled with a light, well-drained growing medium, maintaining moderate moisture. Transplant to the final growing position at a suitable stage, leaving enough space for healthy growth.

Direct sowing

Direct sowing is suitable for this variety in warm areas with stable weather. Sow at a shallow depth in well-prepared soil and water regularly until seedlings emerge.

When to plant

In Jordan, sow faqous seeds during warm periods, usually in spring and early summer. Timing varies by region and elevation. Avoid cold periods or sharp temperature fluctuations.

Plant care

Choose a sunny location for strong growth and suitably long fruit. Water regularly without letting the plants dry out or become waterlogged, maintaining balanced soil moisture. Use a balanced feeding programme to support vegetative growth and improve fruit quality. Light supports are recommended for intensive growing to improve air circulation and keep fruit straight.

Harvesting

Pick faqous when the fruit reaches a suitable length, before the seeds inside harden. Regular picking helps sustain production and maintain fruit quality.
