How It Works

Two metal sensor pins are inserted into the wood to measure electrical resistance, which changes with the moisture content of the wood fibres. The reading appears in less than a second.

Checking Firewood

Moisture content matters when selling or using firewood for fireplaces and stoves. The recommended range in this guide is 15–20%: below 15%, wood burns very quickly; above 25%, it can produce heavy smoke, burn poorly and increase tar buildup.

The meter helps you check whether wood is dry and ready to use, reduce excess smoke, improve burning efficiency, lower wood consumption and assess firewood quality before sale.
