Growing guide

• Sowing period: January to the end of July, with early February sowing for plants ready for Mother's Day.
• Sowing: Sow 2–3 seeds per plug cell; direct sowing into final pots is possible.
• Germination: 3–4 days at 68–70°F (20–21°C), with a light covering.
• Stage 2: 5–7 days at the same temperature.
• Stage 3: 12–14 days at 65–68°F (18–20°C).
• Stage 4: 7 days at 60–62°F (15–17°C).
• Growing on: Continue at 60–65°F (15–18°C), and harden at 54–55°F (12–13°C) before sale.
• Medium: Use a well-drained medium with 20–30% clay and 1–2 kg/m³ balanced fertiliser. Ideal pH: 5.5–6.0.
• Temperature: Plants grow best at 15–18°C. Avoid frost and temperatures above 25°C, which inhibit flower formation.
• Feeding: Feed weekly with a balanced fertiliser supplying 100–150 ppm nitrogen. Add magnesium sulphate at 0.05% to prevent magnesium deficiency. Treat iron deficiency with chelated iron when needed.
