Product description

Offered through a special collaboration between Magic Seed and Hedera, these seeds produce long cornichon cucumbers, known for their dark green colour, firm texture and size suited to pickling and fresh eating. Suitable for home gardens, greenhouses and small fields in Jordan, this variety grows quickly and yields well under suitable conditions. It produces uniform fruit with an excellent market appearance and is widely used for home and commercial pickling. Each pack contains 30 carefully selected seeds for high quality and excellent germination when growing recommendations are followed.

How to grow

Starting seedlings

Cornichon cucumbers can be started as seedlings to obtain strong, uniform plants. Sow in seed trays filled with a light, well-drained growing medium, maintaining steady moisture without saturation. After several true leaves have formed, transplant to the final growing position with suitable spacing.

Direct sowing

Direct sowing is the most common method for this variety, especially in warm areas. Sow at a shallow depth in well-prepared soil and water regularly until seedlings emerge.

When to plant

In Jordan, sow cornichon cucumber seeds during warm, stable periods, usually in spring and summer. Exact dates vary by region and whether the crop is grown outdoors or under cover. Choose the best timing based on local experience.

Plant care

The plants need good sun exposure for healthy growth and regular production. Water regularly and evenly, avoiding water stress. Use a balanced feeding programme to support vegetative growth and fruit formation. Monitor plants for pests and diseases and address any problems promptly.

Harvesting

Pick cornichon cucumbers when they reach a suitable size for pickling or eating. Regular picking encourages further fruit production and helps maintain crop quality.
