Stress Resistance and Plant Vitality

Plant stress occurs when conditions change suddenly: high temperatures, frost, saline irrigation water, drought, or stress after transplanting, pruning and spraying. The result can be stalled growth, yellowing leaves and flower drop.

The solution is to supply readily absorbed substances that reduce the plant's energy expenditure: amino acids support rapid protein synthesis, seaweed extracts contain compounds and trace elements that increase tolerance, calcium strengthens cell walls, and potassium regulates water movement and stomatal opening.

At Hedera, we recommend a preventive programme: a stimulant spray one week before a heatwave or cold spell, followed by another spray afterwards to support recovery, alongside balanced fertilization and regular watering.

What is the best product for summer heat stress?

A preferred approach is to mix a seaweed extract, such as Boost, Ascophyllum or Alga Plus, with amino acids such as Vegetamin 24 or Bio Magic 20%. Apply as a foliar spray early in the morning or before sunset, repeating every 10–15 days during the heatwave, with potassium support such as KTC potassium citrate.

Do biostimulants replace fertilizer?

No. Stimulants improve plant efficiency, stress tolerance and nutrient uptake, but do not supply the required quantities of basic nutrients. Use them alongside a balanced NPK and trace-element feeding programme.
