Vivid red stands out against glossy green foliage. This compact flowering houseplant adds colour and elegance to desks, side tables, bright shelves and small indoor spaces. It also makes an attractive plant gift that can last longer than a traditional bouquet.
Please note: The decorative planter shown in some photos is not included. The number, arrangement and opening stage of flower heads may vary slightly on delivery, as each plant grows naturally.
Provide bright, indirect light to maintain healthy growth and encourage new flower heads. It can adapt to medium light, but lower light may reduce flowering. Avoid direct midday sun, which may scorch the leaves and fade the red bracts.
Water after the top 2–3 cm of soil has dried. Water thoroughly until excess drains from the holes, then empty the saucer or decorative planter. Check moisture regularly instead of following a fixed watering schedule. Do not leave the soil completely dry for long periods or keep the roots in saturated soil.
Anthurium enjoys medium to high humidity. Keep away from direct air-conditioning and heater airflow. A humidifier or pebble tray can help, provided the pot base does not touch the water. Suitable temperatures are approximately 18–27°C. Protect from cold, draughts and sudden changes.
Use a light indoor potting mix rich in organic matter, with good aeration and drainage. Apply a diluted, balanced fertiliser or one suitable for flowering plants every 4–6 weeks during growth. Reduce feeding in winter and do not fertilise completely dry soil.
Wipe leaves with a soft, damp cloth to maintain their natural shine. Remove yellow leaves and old flower stems near the base using a clean tool. Avoid artificial leaf-shine sprays and do not leave water constantly sitting on the red bracts.
Provide strong, indirect light, balanced watering without waterlogging and moderate feeding during the growing season. Low light and overwatering are common reasons for fewer new flower heads, so check the light before increasing fertiliser.
Anthurium contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals. Chewing it may cause mouth irritation and pain, drooling, vomiting or difficulty swallowing. Keep out of reach of children, cats and dogs, and wash your hands after handling cut plant parts.
If the leaves look healthy but the plant stops producing flower heads, check the light before increasing fertiliser. Because the pot is small, monitor soil moisture during hot weather; it may dry faster than plants in larger pots.
The glossy red part is a coloured bract. The true flowers are tiny and grow on the central spike, called the spadix.
Yes. Its 25 cm height and 12 cm pot suit desks, side tables and small surfaces, provided bright, indirect natural light is available.
Yes, if the room receives indirect natural light and moderate ventilation. Keep it away from children and pets.
This depends on temperature, light and how quickly the soil dries. Check the top 2–3 cm and water when it starts to dry rather than following a fixed schedule.
No. It needs strong light, but intense direct sun may scorch leaves and bracts. Bright, filtered light is best.
No immediate repotting is needed. Keep it in the nursery pot while drainage is good, then move up just one pot size when the roots fill the pot.
