Monstera — Swiss Cheese Plant

Monstera is a warm-loving houseplant suited to room temperatures.

Temperature

A temperature range of 20–30°C is suitable. It can tolerate cooler conditions provided temperatures stay above 12°C. Some growers also report success in warmer conditions.

Watering, feeding and humidity

Water regularly once the soil has dried slightly. Feed approximately once a month during active growth. Monstera appreciates humidity, so mist it frequently, especially in summer.

Light

Provide bright light without direct sunlight, which can scorch or yellow the leaves. Place it near a large window or under bright artificial lighting.

Common problems

Yellowing leaf edges are a common problem, often linked to overwatering or watering before the soil has had a chance to dry. This is particularly likely in pots without drainage for excess water.
