Why Choose a Peace Lily?

  • White blooms create a calm, elegant display.
  • A convenient size for desks, tables and small indoor corners.
  • Drooping foliage can signal a need for water, making it easier to monitor watering.
  • Pairs easily with ceramic planters and neutral interior colours.
  • Adapts to medium indoor light, while better light supports flowering.

Care Guide

Light

Prefers bright, indirect indoor light and can adapt to medium light. Keep the foliage and blooms out of direct sun to avoid scorching.

Watering

Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil is dry. Add water gradually until excess drains from the holes, then empty any water collected underneath. Do not keep the soil constantly saturated or follow a fixed schedule, as water needs change with light and temperature.

Humidity

Prefers medium to high humidity. Place in a well-ventilated room away from direct dry airflow from air conditioners or heaters.

Temperature

Suited to approximately 18–27°C. Protect from severe cold, draughts and sudden temperature changes.

Feeding

Use a diluted, balanced fertiliser every 4–6 weeks during active growth. Reduce feeding in winter or when growth slows, and do not fertilise very dry soil.

Cleaning the Leaves

Gently wipe the leaves with a damp cloth to remove dust and maintain their shine. Avoid chemical leaf-shine products.

Signs to Watch For

  • Drooping leaves: Often signal a need for water, but may also occur after prolonged waterlogging.
  • Yellow leaves: May result from overwatering or poor drainage.
  • Brown tips: May be linked to dry air, irregular watering or salt build-up.
  • Few blooms: Often linked to low light or excessive nitrogen-rich fertiliser.
  • Scorched or faded leaves: May indicate strong direct sunlight.

Where to Place It

Suitable for living rooms, offices, reception areas and bright bedrooms. Position near a window with filtered light, away from hot glass and direct air-conditioning airflow.

Is It Safe for Pets?

Chewing Peace Lily leaves may irritate pets' mouths and digestive systems. Keep it away from cats, dogs and young children.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a Peace Lily need direct sunlight?

No. It prefers bright, indirect light. Direct sunlight may scorch the leaves and damage the blooms.

How often should I water it?

No fixed interval suits every home. Check the soil and water when the top 2–3 cm is dry.

Why has a white bloom turned green?

Older blooms may turn green as a normal part of their life cycle. Cut them off at the base once they fade.

Can I keep it in a low-light spot?

It can adapt to medium light, but growth and flowering are better in bright, filtered light.
