Product description

Parlour Palm

An elegant indoor palm with soft, feathery green leaves and a calm, graceful appearance. It is a widely grown, easy-care houseplant, well suited to beginners, homes and offices thanks to its adaptability to moderate indoor light.

About the Plant

The parlour palm is slow-growing, with a neat shape that adds a natural touch without taking up much space. It suits indoor corners, side tables and offices, and tolerates relatively low light better than many other palms.

Where to Place It

  • Prefers medium to bright, indirect light.
  • Tolerates low light, with slower growth.
  • Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch leaf tips.
  • Suitable for living rooms, offices and bright hallways.

Watering

  • Water when the top 3–4 cm of soil has dried.
  • In summer, this is usually every 5–7 days, depending on the room temperature.
  • In winter, approximately every 10–14 days.
  • Ensure excess water drains away and never leave the pot submerged in water.
  • Overwatering may cause yellow leaves and root rot.

Soil and Pot

  • Use a light, well-draining soil rich in organic matter.
  • An indoor potting mix with added peat moss and perlite is recommended.
  • Drainage holes are essential for healthy roots.
  • Repot approximately every two years or when the roots fill the container.

Feeding

  • Feed during spring and summer.
  • Use a balanced liquid fertiliser at a moderate dose.
  • Once every 3–4 weeks is sufficient.
  • Stop feeding in winter.

Temperature and Humidity

  • Suitable temperatures range from 18–28°C.
  • Adapts well to household conditions in Jordan.
  • Prefers moderate humidity; the leaves can be lightly misted in dry conditions.
  • Keep away from air conditioners and direct draughts.

Common Problems

Yellowing leaf tips: Often caused by dry air or irregular watering.

Wilting leaves: Can result from insufficient watering or exposure to high temperatures.

Pests: Spider mites or mealybugs may occasionally occur; use a suitable treatment when needed.

Care Level

Very easy, suitable for beginners and long-term indoor growing.

Care Note

Moderate watering, indirect light and avoiding sudden changes in location help maintain the plant's health and appearance indoors.
