Product description

Gambol 70% WP

Gambol 70% is a systemic agricultural insecticide from CHEMVET. This wettable powder contains imidacloprid at 70% w/w. It is absorbed into the plant and helps control piercing-sucking insects registered on the label, acting through contact and ingestion.

Target Pests

  • Aphids.
  • Whiteflies.
  • Mealybugs.
  • Other sucking pests registered for the crop on the pesticide label.

Key Features

  • Imidacloprid at 70%.
  • Systemic insecticide that moves through plant tissues.
  • Contact and ingestion action.
  • Wettable powder mixed with water before spraying.
  • Economical 500 g pack.

Preparation and Use

  1. Wear personal protective equipment before opening the pack.
  2. Weigh the required quantity according to crop, pest and the usage table on the label.
  3. First mix with a small quantity of water in a separate container to make a uniform, lump-free suspension.
  4. Part-fill the spray tank with water, then add the mixture while continuing to stir.
  5. Add the remaining required water and maintain agitation during spraying.
  6. Spray foliage evenly without excessive run-off.
  7. Use the spray mixture on the day it is prepared; do not leave it in the sprayer for extended periods.

Application Rate

The rate varies with crop, pest, spray-water volume and stage of infestation. Follow the rate, pre-harvest interval and number of applications registered on the pesticide label; do not apply one rate to all crops.

Resistance Management

Imidacloprid belongs to IRAC group 4A – neonicotinoids. To reduce the risk of resistance, avoid unnecessary repeated use, rotate with pesticides from different mode-of-action groups and follow the number of applications registered for the crop within an integrated pest management programme.

Safety Precautions

  • This is a concentrated powder, not a liquid or ready-to-use spray.
  • Avoid inhaling dust during measuring and mixing. Wear gloves, goggles, a mask or respirator and protective clothing.
  • Do not eat, drink or smoke while preparing or spraying; do not touch the powder directly with your hands.
  • Avoid contact of the pesticide or spray mixture with skin and eyes. Do not spray in windy conditions.
  • Highly toxic to bees; do not use during bee activity or on flowering crops when bees are present.
  • Highly toxic to aquatic organisms; prevent contamination of ponds, waterways and water sources.
  • Keep children and animals away from preparation and storage areas.
  • Keep the pack closed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place away from food and animal feed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Gambol a liquid insecticide?

No. It is a wettable powder (WP) that must be mixed with water before application with a sprayer.

What is the active ingredient?

Imidacloprid at 70% w/w.

What does WP mean?

Wettable powder. It disperses in water to form a spray suspension and requires thorough mixing and agitation.

Does it dissolve completely in water?

WP formulations form a suspension rather than a clear solution, so keep agitating during preparation and spraying.

What are the rate and pre-harvest interval?

They vary with crop and pest. Follow the usage table and pre-harvest interval on the pack; do not apply one crop's rate to another.

Can it be used during flowering?

Do not use when flowers attract bees or during bee activity because it is highly hazardous to bees.

Can it be mixed with other pesticides or fertilisers?

Only mix after confirming compatibility and following the label instructions. Carry out a small-scale mixing test where mixing is permitted.
