Product description

Offered through a special collaboration between Magic Seed and Hedera, these seeds produce short cornichon cucumbers, known for their small size, bright green colour and firm texture, making them ideal for high-quality pickling. Suitable for home gardens, greenhouses and small farms in Jordan, this variety grows quickly, produces uniform fruit and crops continuously with good care. It is mainly used for pickling, but the young fruit can also be eaten fresh. Each pack contains 30 carefully selected seeds for high quality and excellent germination.

How to grow

Starting seedlings

Short cornichon cucumbers can be started as seedlings to obtain strong, uniform plants. Sow in seed trays filled with a light, well-drained growing medium, maintaining moderate moisture without waterlogging. Transplant to the final growing position at a suitable stage, leaving enough space between plants.

Direct sowing

Direct sowing is the most common method for this variety, especially in areas with warm, stable weather. Sow at a shallow depth in well-prepared soil and water regularly until seedlings emerge.

When to plant

In Jordan, sow short cornichon cucumber seeds during warm periods, usually in spring and summer. Timing varies by region and whether the crop is grown outdoors or in a greenhouse. Choose the best timing according to local conditions.

Plant care

The plants need good sun exposure for healthy growth and regular production. Water regularly without overwatering, keeping soil moisture balanced. Use a balanced feeding programme to support vegetative growth and improve fruit quality. Check plants regularly for pests and diseases and address any problems promptly.

Harvesting

Pick short cornichon cucumbers when they reach a suitable pickling size, while they are firm and of high quality. Regular harvesting encourages more fruit and maintains continuous production.
